Alternaria black spot disease
of rapeseed-mustard caused by A. brassicae (Berk.)
Sacc, in India causes an average yield loss of 35–40%
(Kolte et al. 1987). A. alternata Japanese Pear pathotype
causing black spot disease of the Japanese pear is
a pathogen associated with severe economic losses
(Evelyn et al. 2004).
