Summary of the elements:
1. Competency-Focused Education: Blended
learning begins with the identification of learning
objectives that students must meet. Ideally these
skills should be part of a larger K-12 scope and
sequence like the Common Core or other grade
level expectations. The only way educators can
give students freedom to move at their own
pace is if they understand how a current skill
focus fits within a larger progression of skills.
When educators have a strong understanding
of prerequisite skills as well as “next level” skills,
they can both support and push students at
individualized paces.
