Early Years Foundation Stage (England)
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) was introduced in the UK and has received international praise for the positive effects it has had on the outcomes for children. One way EYFS supports a child’s learning and development is by bringing together teachers and parents who can work work together to ensure that a child’s needs are fully understood and provided for in the classroom and at home. The learning goals of EYFS are categorized into 2 key areas which are the prime areas and the specific areas.The prime areas are categorized into 3 areas: communication and language, physical development and finally personal, social and emotional development.The specific areas are categorized into 4 areas: literacy (reading and writing), mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.
