The measuring system outputs the slice area in square mils, pad width and the average pad height for each slice of pad data in mils as can be seen in Fig. 3. Pad height is calculated as the average height of the “plateau” of the deposit profile and often yields height data slightly less than the stencil thickness. Slice area multiplied by the pitch of the slices (6 mils) yields a close approximation of volume expressed in cubic mils.
