Much of the research on teachers’ practices related to educational technology
has been conducted in the past 15 years, but the concept of self-presentation
bias has received relatively little attention in this research. The
extent to which self-presentation bias is present in teachers’ self-reports of
their educational technology practices is unclear. Examining whether selfpresentation
bias exists in teachers’ reports of their practices in the field of
educational technology, and if so, to what extent, should help us determine the
validity of these reports. Evidence of strong self-presentation bias in teacher
self-reports could also strengthen the case for use of additional measures to
assess teachers’ use of technology-related practices.
