In this present study four Aspergillus terreus isolates were analyzed for their potential in lovastatin production by solid state fermentation. In which two of them were isolated from soil (Aspergillus terreus isolates JPM 1 and JPM 2), and one of the isolate obtained from infected oyster mushroom bed (JPM 3). The type strain Aspergillus terreus MTCC479 were obtained from Microbial Type Culture Collection, Chandigarh.
