The target compounds (3a, 3c, 3e–g), intermediates (2a, 2c–g) and the starting material (1) were preliminary evaluated in vitro for their ability to inhibit soybean 15-LOX activity by using spectrophotometric method [17]. Bioactivity screening for soybean 15-LOX inhibition by the target compounds was carried out at 100 μg/mL concentration. Nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA), a known soybean 15-LOX inhibitor was used as reference standard. The bioactivities of the compounds were also compared to tHGA as the parent compound.
