I love the New Year. It’s a clean slate, where anything can happen. I love setting goals. I actually thrive on it. But this year, my focus will be on one word. A word that will be my compass all year long. It will transform my year and myself.
I’ve been praying for weeks about my word. . .and I keep coming back to the same thing; present.
I want to be present in all things. Lots of times I’m here but not present. If I sit down to read a book, I’ often think about the other things I should be doing. I won’t allow myself to be present .I will be spending time with someone but not fully engaged. I reach for my phone all too often. I’ve become envious of relationships that other people have instead of being thankful for the people who are in my life now . I often worry about tomorrow instead of living for today. I want to put down my phone, put down my list, put down my to-do’s and focus on the now, focus on the people I’m with, focus on my blessings, focus on the present. I want to be all in, to live life to the fullest.
Present can also be a verb, which means “to give.” This year I want to present my life to the Lord daily, to allow Him to use me for His glory. I present myself as a living sacrifice every day. I want His plan to be my plan for today.
