The Customer has identified Phetchabun province, Thailand, as an area of interest for wind speed modelling and feasibility study. Phetchabun province is located in central-northern Thailand, approximately 200 km north of Bangkok as seen in Figure 1. The province covers an area of approximately 12,400 km2.
The Phetchabun Mountains are located in the north of Phetchabun province and consist of two parallel mountain chains with the Pa Sak River running down the centre. The landscape in the north of the province contains varied topography with complex mountainous terrain to the east and west and flat land within the center. The southern half of the province consists of relatively flat land with isolated terrain features. The elevations within the province range from 40 m above sea level in the low-lying lands to the south, up to 1700 m in the mountain range to the north-west, and steep slopes are present throughout the mountain ranges.
The mountain ranges in the north of Phetchabun province are heavily forested. However the remaining flat area appears to consist mostly of agricultural farmland, interspersed with patches of forestry and industrial areas. Several medium sized residential communities exist in the centre of the province.
