Within the framework of Christmas and year-end season, mall sales will experience an up to 9% expansion in December 2015 compared to the same period last year, MegaPlaza General Manager Percy Vigil projected.
"This better perspective is based on businesses' favorable performance despite the current complex economic situation," he told Andina news agency.
"The higher dynamism witnessed in the demand is the result of families' increased purchasing power," the executive stressed.
Expectations
"Many malls' expectations, concerning sales levels recovery, are based on what could happen this month," Vigil told.
It must be noted Moody's Investors Service recently informed the Peruvian economy will remain immersed in a recovery process favored by a higher domestic demand, relatively-low interest rates and a healthy labor market.
At the same time, Vigil mentioned clothing and footwear sectors will continue leading sales during this period, followed by accessories, toys and perfumery.
New malls
On the other hand, Vigil considered "there is currently a great potential for new malls in Peru" especially in those regions featuring a more-accelerated economic growth pace even if compared to Lima.
