3. Results
Fig. 4 shows the scatterplot matrix for all four Hegyi index calculation
methods. In the ideal case, the edge mitigation methods
would produce the same Hegyi index values as were calculated
using the original off-plot neighbours, resulting in a slope value
of 1 and all the data points would align on the diagonal of the corresponding
scatterplot.
The reconstruction method produced the best results with the
model slope value of 1.028 and both observed and reconstructed
data are symmetrically distributed along the diagonal. Reconstructing
