Android is a Linux-based operating system for
mobile devices such as smart phones and tablet computers. It
is developed by the Open Handset Alliance led by Google.
The Android software has been chosen in the proposed
mobile heart rate monitor over other software stacks for
mobiles due to its open sources and the Android SDK
(Software Development Kit) which provides the tools and
APIs necessary to begin developing applications from scratch
on the Android platform using the Java programming
language. Fig.5 illustrates the layout of the smartphone
application developed for the accessory. Whereas Fig.6
describes the flow chart of the code written for the Android
based device application.
