Patricia Polacco wrote a children's book called The Keeping Quilt. The book described one of her family legacies. This legacy was a special quilt. The quilt was sewn many years ago from pieces of clothing. The clothing had been worn by family members who emigrated from Russia. The quilt was passed down from Patricia's great-grandmother to her grandmother. Then her grandmother gave it to Patricia's mother. The keeping quilt was used at weddings. The quilt wrapped new babies. On special days,it served as a tablecloth.
