All
entries were imported into Microsoft Access Database and
coded into one of 13 beverage categories and categorised as
sugary, alcoholic or non-sugary for the purpose of assessing
consumption by setting. The sugary drink categories used
were as follows: carbonated soft drinks; caloric cordial,
iced tea and flavoured water; energy drinks; sports drinks;
sweetened, flavoured milk-based drinks (e.g. flavoured milk,
sweetened hot chocolate and milk coffee); 100% fruit juice
and sweetened fruit drinks; and sweetened tea and coffee.
Alcoholic drinks included beer, wine and mixed drinks.
Carbonated soft drinks consumed as part of a mixed alcoholic
drink were reported as alcoholic drinks.
