GOMBAK: The National Silat Association (Pesaka) is pledging that the 'Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu' is a peaceful rally and not meant to provoke any race, says Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam (pic).
The Pesaka president said they had received permits from the police and Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) and would comply with the Peaceful Assembly Act.
"We hope all participants will come and assemble peacefully. This is the first time we are having it. Let's show our unity and follow the principles of the Rukunegara," he said during a press conference at the Lincah Mahaguru Omardin Complex here.
Mohd Ali said they had invited more than 100 NGOs, as well as political parties like Umno and PAS.
When asked about other NGOs marching from different points to Padang Merbok, he said he was aware of it and it was their right to do so.
"As long as they do not cause any trouble, it is fine. If they do, then they will have to face the consequences," he said.
Mohd Ali also distanced Pesaka from any of the groups' possible misconduct.
"We are not responsible for any of their actions. We have clearly said that we do not condone violence or any provocation. If the police take action against them, it is their problem," he said.
