Sclerotium rolfsii is an important plant
pathogen, which has an extensive host range.
At least 500 species in 100 families are
susceptible. The most common hosts are the
legumes, crucifers, and cucurbits. The
important plant diseases caused by S. rolfsii,
include root rot of beet, root and collar rot of
chickpea, collar and bean rot disease of sword
bean8, rot of chestnut –Trapa bispinosa19,
collar rot of safflower20.
