Variations on participatory mapping

The most common type of a village map focuses on the inhabited part of the village, as in the example above. There are many ways that may be of interest to a particular study.
One variation changes the scope of the map. A map can look at a lager area, such as the whole village territory, or even the larger region. A territorial map would include the boundaries around the village land and could explore the resources in the territory and how they are managed.
