Dick’s email was sent in a rush and should not have been sent as such.
It does nevertheless reflect the his frustration to the long list of requests for information, ideas and suggestions given and even decisions made that have gone unanswered/unfollowed in the last 6 months and more.
It does reflect feedback from old staff, volunteers and others about the climate that exists among the faculty.
And it does reflect my personal observation of the internal environment as well as of the lack of will to follow instructions OR to provide positive criticism when instructions are given or decisions made.
In the coming months there will be several changes and a real committee overseeing the quality of education will be created. The discussion about the Quality assurance committee is a perfect example of what is wrong. A committee created without discussions with leadership. Made by wrong people and then in effect never used to monitor the quality of what we do…
Please do consider Dick’s email NOT a letter of termination nor a request of resignations but A WARNING.
What needs to happen immediately is that the instructions sent yesterday about use of school resources and about teachers sharing their ideas and initiatives MUST be implemented immediately.
What needs to happen is that no teacher or other staff will be disciplined in any way by you or your staff until we are back.
What needs to happen in October is a restructuring of the education program in terms of classes taught, lesson plans and reports prepared. In line with what is clearly possible in Thailand as done by other bilingual schools and without violating any official requirement. this will involve a number of people, including you.
Very clear objectives, expected outcomes and outputs will be given to all managers.
In the coming weeks other people in management positions will receive similar feedback.
I am all for fairness. But fairness is due to every staff employee by the SCHSF.
Sorry for the stress caused by the email on a Sunday morning.
Frustration at times can’t be controlled. But it should.
This is true for Dick as it is for you and everyone else when disappointed by their staff.
