This experiment was conducted during the 2009/2010 spring-summer breeding season. Fifty-three suckled Nelore (Bos indicus) cows from a commercial beef farm in the state of Paraná, Brazil were enrolled in this study. All cows were maintained on Brachiaria decumbens pastures, with free access to water and mineralized salt. At the beginning of the TAI protocol, BCS (as described above) and parity (multiparous or primiparous) of each cow were recorded.
