2.6. Data analysis
The specific growth rate (SGR, %) was calculated as: SGR=100×[ln
(Wt/W0)]/t, where Wt is the wet weight after t days culture and W0 is
the initialweight. In the present study,wetweightwas used as an indicator
of growth instead of anesthetized body length, which has been
recommended to use as an accurate measurement of body size of
A. japonicus (Hatanaka and Tanimura, 1994), in order to shorten time
for the measurement after the animal was taken out of the seawater at
the culture stations. For comparing literature values of length with
weights in the present study, the length was converted to weight using
equations given by Yamana and Hamano (2006). To test statistical differences
in thewetweight and SGR between the twostations,we used a two
sample t-test.
