With knowledge management, performance evaluation and
compensation systems are now giving increasing importance to knowledge
creation and sharing. Increasingly, managers consider not only short-term
performance of employees but, more importantly, their knowledge and the
speed at which they learn and their contribution to the overall knowledge of the
organization. The recognition of employees as experts in their respective areas of
specialization is an important key to the success of knowledge management.
