I'm writing to you about what I interpret as your ruthless exploitation of my close friend Tanya. It appears to me that your pretext for bringing Tanya to work for you was likely planned from the start to be only temporary without any commitment to her as a person, or employee, and the needs that she has in her life as a human being. It seems that she was only a quick-fix temporary service that filled a gap to make you profit, and only profit, I find your dishonest actions on using her only as a temporary employee disgustingly inhuman.

Tanya's hope in leaving her home village to work for you both was for employment that would have been much longer than the short time you used her during the high tourist season. She worked very hard and long hours, even though the original arrangement did not include the amount of hours she worked, to ensure your maximum earnings. She was committed to your business and its thriving. In doing that, Tanya played a double role to cover for a borderline sociopath running LP2 (your spoiled sister Aree!) who not only didn't know what she was doing, but, alienated the customers that booked rooms at LP2. Tanya worked hard at selling tours and ensuring guests were comfortable to help you both make money in ways that did not occur prior to her working for you. Then, for whatever business reasons, she was fired without warning, without any transitional arrangements like extra money to help with her transition, or additional time to plan for that transition. You just indicated you were finished with her and she had to go.

Is this what your commitment to Buddha suggests may be done? Is there room in your astute notion of spirituality for karma V? Should you have any understanding of karma, how do you think your actions bear on this? Your actions toward Tanya shows just how shallow and phony you both are-grinning and hugging while being concerned only for what you can get from others. Your actions are as heartless as any that I've experienced in my long life of working both in manual labor and intellectual capacities.

Things happen in business that require employer/employee relationships to change. I'm far from idealistic. However, when you lure someone to work for you without being up front on your intentions from the start, or, when things change in business and you don't plan financially in providing transition to employees who had to be let go because of change, this is just another example of selfish greed regardless of your superficial acting of being hip-and-now people.

You could make amends by paying Tanya a transition amount to help her resettle and find a new job. Certainly she made you profits that were previously not there for you given the previous manager of the operations at LP2. That would be the human thing to do for your supposed "friend"-Tanya.

If you don't do right in helping Tanya following your firing her, you have made an enemy in me.

Martin Luther King suggested that the universe is bent toward justice; in some forms of Buddhism, that's called karma. Then again, maybe you're to aloof and consider yourselves above that kind of "primitive" spiritual thinking. We all have to live with the ramifications of our actions even though they may not become evident right away. I certainly have had to live with my misdeeds.

Do right and help Tanya out, if nothing else, because she trusted you both as friends and as human beings. Be human toward her! She is in incredible need right now.
