As a true artist, Miuccia Prada can draw inspiration from the most simple or unconventional sources
while still exhibiting an understanding and respect for her predecessors. Her upbringing and association
with the Italian Communist Party influences her work.
Prada has been exploring the idea of ideal beauty for some time. in that interview for Telegraph. She explained the way that she places fashion on the same level as other types of art - they don't need to be traditionally beautiful to do what art should do : make the audience think. “The investigation of ugliness is, to me, more interesting than the bourgeois idea of beauty. And why? Because ugly is human.” Art can be terrifying and enthralling at the same time, and fashion should be able to do that, too.
Prada spoke about the inspiration of her collection to reporters after her show. “I’m fixated with the idea of women of strength,” Prada said. “There is a necessity to be strong. visible, fighters, and this is an encouragement to be out there and to do something.
