The C1s high resolution spectra along with fractions of the functional groups are show in fig.9 and table 4. In comparison to VCF , the percentage of graphite C-C reduced while the percentage of amorphous C-C increased in the recycled fibers, indicating the loss of the crystallinity in the recycled cabon fibers. Among the recycled carbon fibers, the carbon fibers obtained from I4S3 sample showed the highest percentage of graphite C-C on the surface of carbon fibers. Moreover, among the oxygenated function groups, the C=O fraction showed no significant difference while the C-O and O-C=O fraction increased in recycled carbon fibers, especially when high current was applied (I20 and 125 groups). This shows that more oxygen was produced during the recycling of carbon fibers with electrochemical process. Finally, an increase in C-Cl fraction was observed for recycled carbon fibers. For VCF, the fraction of C-Cl was 0.7% while it was around 9% for I4S20. This increase in the fraction of C-Cl at higher applied current level indicates that the surface of carbon fibers has been corroded by Cl generated from the anodic reaction in NaCl solution.
