In additon to these well-known methods of quantifying wind speeds, in all four
countries shaded Piche evaporimeters were tested as ancillary anemometers. The
principle was developed in Tanzania in the eighties [25,26] and some basic field
experiments had been done there [15] and in Sudan [27]. They were studied for cheap
interpolation and extrapolation of wind speed to increase the number of points that
can simultaneously be monitored in these heterogeneous environments
