Meho and Tibbo (2003) extended Ellis’s model with additionalactivities: accessing refers to obtaining the found information objects; networkingrefers to maintaining personal relationships with a wide range of people of similarinterest; and information managing refers to organizing information in personalcollection to facilitate research. P. Wang et al. (2007) adopted Ellis’s model to studyresearch use of internet information communication technology. To incorporatenew developments in the digital environment, it was necessary to reframeinformation activities into two broad categories: general information-seekingactivities for long-term research needs and task-based information-seekingactivities corresponding to the project lifecycle.The general information-seeking activities are:
