Note what these recommendations are and plan on focusing your observation on how the teacher has implemented these instructional improvements. Again using Mr. Bates as an example, suppose a prior observation of his contained this recommendation: “To improve class participation by improving questioning techniques, Mr. Bates should use more probing and more open-ended questions and avoid simple Yes or No response questions.” Before you observe Mr. Bates, make a notation to look for evidence in his questioning that he has, in fact, implemented this recommendation and used more higher level questions.
