SSM (soft Systems Methodology) was not specifically designed as a tech- nique of eliciting requirements for computer-based systems. Rather, it was developed to help apply systems thinking' to problems within organisations. It is concerned with socio-technical systems in the broadest sense including people ,procedures and policies hardware and software, etc. This broad perspective makes the approach usable in requirements elicitation and Bustard et al .(1995) describe how SSM can be combined with other requirements analysis methods.
