2.2.3. Oil separation of condensate
Prior to analysis, the critical stage was the separation of the
direct oil from the condensate obtained by DIC process. The
condensate was extracted three times using a separator funnel
by the addition of chloroform and NaCl to facilitate the emulsion
breakdown. Sodium sulphate was added to remove moisture and
the organic phase was then concentrated under a vacuum in a
rotary-evaporator at 30 ◦C. Each dried sample was diluted with
chloroform to 20mL and stored in the dark at 4 ◦C prior to yield
and composition analysis by GC/MS.
