t have a pretty good chance)
• Go to all classes. If you have to miss a class, review the lecture slides on the course website.
• Sit towards the front if possible. You will see and hear better, and there are fewer
distractions.
• Write notes on the lecture slides during lecture.
• Don’t do emails, texting, facebook, etc during class. It’s a huge distraction, not only to you
but to the people around you.
• Do all homework assignments. Check your answers with other people if you need to, but do
the problems yourself.
• Look at the homework solutions on the course website, after you turn in the homework.
Suggestions on how to study for exams:
• Work all of the homework problems and sample questions as well as you can without
looking at the solutions, or consulting friends.
• Note the issues you had difficulty with, and concentrate your effort there. Work with
someone else and make up new problems for one another. Get help in lab, or at office hours,
or from other people in the class.
• Don’t be tempted to stop studying as soon as if you feel as if you understand the ideas. Keep
practicing past that point, or you may find you do not have a solid grasp when you take the
exam.
• You can be certain that some questions much like the homework problems and sample
questions WILL be on the exam. You should feel that these questions are old friends when you see them, not, “Oh, I hoped we wouldn’t have to do that one!
