Fig. 2(a) and (b) and Table 3 show the temperatures matching2% (t2) and 80% (t80) weight losses. It is seen that the gum ENR exhibited the highest 334.8 °C t2 in the first degradation step, while theCNT filled ENR vulcanizates had average t2 ∼320.0 °C. The higherthermal resistance of ENR might be due to self-crosslinking of ENRduring vulcanization (reaction A in Scheme 1). Lower temperature inthe first degradation step at 2% weight loss for the CNT filled ENRvulcanizates might be attributed to hindering of ENR self-interactionsby the rigid nanotubes [1].
