Chemical pesticides are the most important component of
any pest management strategy. Soil, an important componentoftheenvironment,actasasinkforthepesticidesused
in agriculture. The pesticides present in soil sometimes act
asasourceofcontaminationforsucceedingcrop.Fromsoil,
the pesticides residues can reach water bodies by leaching
and runoff. Pesticides are inherently toxic molecules. Once
they reach the water bodies, they start adversely affecting
the aquatic environment. Presence of pesticides residue in
ground water is extremely hazardous to human beings as
ground water is major source of drinking water.
