Research
The sample for this research was limited to tourism business
owners operating in regional South Australia; thus, there are
certain economic, political, and social factors that might be
unique to this sample and can affect the generalizability of
these results. As such, further work is needed within a
broader context. Moreover, future studies could adopt a longitudinal
design to model the reciprocal causality between
ESE and performance. Future studies could also look to
explore the effects of other variables such as education and
training in entrepreneurship. Education can have a positive
effect on one’s entrepreneurial intentions (Davidsson and
Honig 2003) and can also create higher levels of entrepreneurial
performance (Van Der Sluis, Van Praag, and Vijvberg
