Cellulose is a linear glucose polymer of ß-1,4-glycosidic bond with various polymerizations. Cellulose is the main component of plant cell walls (Hardjo et al., 1989), which is generally used as a raw material for paper, board, or rayon fibers in industrial manufactures. At present, wood becomes the major source of cellulose because of its quite high content. However, cellulose from wood pulp is still contaminated with polysaccharides, such as hemicellulose and lignin. Thus, it is necessary to find other alternative sources of high purity cellulose.
