The clock reaction approach allows for the experiments to
be carried out easily affording valuable information about
the reaction studied. It also allows the students to experience
the initial rates method first hand. In that way, they can study
the dependence of the reaction rate on ionic strength and
temperature in a straightforward manner. Another important
feature of the work presented here is that the thorough study of
the dependence of the reaction rate on ionic strength clearly
shows its significance in elaborating reaction mechanisms.
