Growth of IT facilitate efficient business operations by support
systems like Process-Aware Information Systems (PAISs),
ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems (SAP, Oracle),
CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and etc. These
systems records massive amounts of data as daily execution
logs. Analyzing these logs is an effective means for process
improvements.
Process mining [1] is an effective means for the needs
and extracting knowledge from the event logs of information
systems for discovery, monitoring and improvement. Fig 1 is
the overview of process mining. Information systems support
operational processes of organizations and records event logs.
Event logs have actual information about the operational
processes, therefore the logs facilitate objective decisions. The
operational process is represented as models like petri net
and BPMN, and has properties like business rules. Comparing
event logs with models and properties facilitate understanding
the problems of conducted operational processes. It corresponds
with the diagnosis phase of the business process management
lifecycle. The analysis results are used to redesign of
the business processes.
