Manchester United ‘to start fresh transfer talks with Valencia over Nicolas Otamendi’
Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their efforts to sign Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi.
The Argentina defender has returned to Spain after representing his country at the Copa America and further transfer talks are expected after the player takes a short holiday.
United have been tracking the 27-year-old for more than six months and made an initial approach for the player in the January transfer window.
That bid failed but Louis van Gaal is desperate to complete the transfer this summer as he brings in reinforcements to bolster United’s defence.
And Spanish newspaper AS claim fresh talks will begin in the next week.
Matteo Darmian is also expected to sign after agreeing personal terms with the Old Trafford outfit over a £12.7million transfer.
