Matusik (2002) found a negative relationship between certain firm knowledge and product development performance.
On the other hand, the vast majority of studies in the literature of knowledge management suggest that knowledge management positively impacts firm performance (Hoopes and Postrel, 1999, Lloyd, 1996 and Lubit, 2001).
One possible explanation for the conflicting findings is that most prior studies did not investigate the factors that may have a moderating effect on the relationship between knowledge management strategy and firm strategic performance.
