Think fondue is just for adventurous
Canadians who favour 1970s-era swinger
parties? Think again. The Tampa, Fla.-based
Melting Pot restaurant chain, which has been
serving fondue for more than 30 years,
is heading north. “Canada was our most
logical choice to begin international expansion
due to existing brand recognition and its
proximity to the U.S. In addition, our research
indicates that our restaurants do very well in
colder climates,” says Dan Stone, director of
Franchise Sales. The first location is expected
to open in Edmonton in 2010, with more to
follow in Calgary and Vancouver in 2011,
2012 and 2013 respectively.
