They represent the heads of the naga, a mythical serpent in Hinduism. Between the cho fa and the hang hong are toothlike ridges running down the sloping edges of the gable. They are called the bai raka which represents either the feathers on the wings of the garuda or the bodies of the naga. Thus, the wole design on the gable edge symbolically represents the garuda seizing the nagas by their tails.
