First, reduce carbon emissions in all sectors. Through fuel taxes, controlling vehicle ownership and usage, energy efficiency incentives and other policies, Singapore has proactively reduced the growth of carbon emissions. There is scope to do more. In particular, we must continue to improve energy efficiency and minimise wastage of energy. Technology will play a key role in shaping Singapore’s measures to mitigate emissions and waste. The Government is working with the academic and research community, as well as innovative companies, to assess and develop technologies addressing climate change that might be deployed in Singapore.
