3.2. Energetic efficiency of solid biofuels from plant biomass
Table 2 presents the total solids (dry matter) and volatile solids (organic dry matter) of the plant material taken from different sites.
The average ash content in the biomass of non-wood plants is from 2 to 8% DM (Van Loo and Koppejan, 2008). In the tested samples of the plants used in analyzed sites, the amount of ash did not exceed the typical values for plant materials (Table 3). The only exception was the reed with the highest ash content of 10.4% DM among all described plant species.
