Remember when Austria were considered fashionable "dark horses" for the European Championships? That was only four months ago, but things couldn't have gone much worse since then. They flopped horribly in France, and it isn't going any better in this qualification campaign. A meagre haul of one point from games against Wales and Serbia leaves them fourth in Group D with everything to do in a particularly tricky campaign. At least they're unlikely to be burdened with the pressure of expectation again in the near future.
Turkey are another of the Euro 2016 alumni who find themselves in a spot of bother this season. Defeat to Iceland means they have yet to win in Group I, and though it should be noted that they haven't played Finland or Kosovo yet, this sort of form doesn't exactly bode well. Fatih Terim is under serious pressure, not least from former player Rustu Recber, who said, "Maybe you can make your best contribution to the national team, to which you have nothing for three years, by resigning." Ouch.
