We converted the effective rat dosage to a dose based on the surface area of humans (human equivalent dose), multiplying 1000 mg/kg (PLEs dose) by km factor (BW (kg)) divided by body surface area (m2)) (6) for a rat, and then divided by the km factor (37) for a human, which is animal dose (mg/ kg) multiplied by Animal km/Human km. This conversion leads to a human equivalent dose for PLEs of 162 mg/kg BW, which equates to 9.7 g of PLEs.
