Yang and He (2008) reported that a medicinal fungus Shiraia bambusicula produced mycelium dry weight of 9.23 ± 0.37 g L−1 when glucose was used as a carbon source after 5 days of fermentation. It is proven that BRMY formulation consisting of brown sugar incorporated with various nitrogen sources (rice bran, yeast and malt extracts) supported very good mycelial growth of P. pulmonarius.
