A good way to manage this work seems to be to arrange the students into groups of two. Students of this age(13-14) do not necessarily have well-developed cooperative skills, so a lesson on how to work in a group can save frustration and friction later on. The advantages and disadvantages of group work are listed and strategies for overcoming problems are discussed. A typical difficulty arises when one student feels that she does more than her fair share of the task. An easy way of preventing this situation occurring is for the group members to set up contracts with each other which list the parts of the overall task to which each student is to be responsible.
