3.1.4. Minimum ignition temperature of a dust cloud
(ASTM E 1491, standard test method for minimum
autoignition temperature of dust clouds)
This Minimum Ignition Temperature (MIT) test determines the
lowest temperature capable of igniting a dust dispersed in the form
of a cloud. The MIT is an important factor in evaluating the ignition sensitivity of dusts to such ignition sources as heated environments,
hot surfaces, and friction sparks.
