Some studies have tried to analyze the influence of innovation efforts on firm performance (Bierly and Chakrabarti, 1996;
Hansen, Nhoria and Tierney, 1999; Schulz and Jobe, 2001).
These works recognize the importance of knowledge for innovation management and on results.
However, the efforts to formalize and measure knowledge and its importance for innovation efficiency and company performance has not been satisfactory, due to the difficulty of measuring knowledge (Nonaka, 1994).
