However, significant interactions of this factor with size and patch (F1,19 = 11.55, p = 0.009 and F1,19 = 10.59, p = 0.012, respectively; Table 1) revealed that the presence of crayfish caused small but not large fish to reduce the amount of time feeding in the bottom patch ( Fig. 1A) and caused fish to reduce their time feeding in the bottom patch if there was also food in the upper patch but not if the upper patch was empty ( Fig. 1B).
