1) Research will detail theories for effective smoke control techniques for enhanced aesthetic effects in ceramic art forms.
2) The researcher will construct a kiln specifically designed for effective smoke control. The kiln design will be based on the most effective methods of smoke control present in traditional Thai society, as well as both traditional and contemporary cultures outside of Thailand. The kiln will be assembled from materials appropriate in the context of both Thai cultural traditions and regional environmental parameters.
3) A series of ceramic works will be created using the kiln in order to demonstrate effective smoke control techniques for achieving desired aesthetic qualities. The quality of the series will also demonstrate how traditional philosophies, methods and materials can be applied towards contemporary design theories.
